A 52-year-old Ocala woman was arrested after repeatedly hitting a male victim in the head with a glass bottle following an argument.
On Tuesday at around 2:45 a.m., a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a local residence in reference to a battery incident.
Upon arrival, a male victim told the deputy that Brenda Gayle Parkhurst was intoxicated and had struck him repeatedly in the head.
The victim stated that Parkhurst had been drinking Mike’s Hard Lemonade for most of the evening, and they had both gotten into an argument regarding an unrelated matter.
According to the victim, he started to walk away from Parkhurst when she struck him on the head with a Mike’s Hard Lemonade glass bottle.
He turned around, pushed Parkhurst away, and started walking toward the living room couch. She hit him on the head again with the same bottle which knocked him to the ground.
Parkhurst continued to strike him in the head with the bottle. Eventually she passed out on the floor in the living room, and he was able to walk outside the residence to contact law enforcement.
The MCSO report indicated that the victim had a black-and-purple bruise around his left eye, blood was on his shirt, arms, and hands, and a four-inch laceration was on the left side of his head.
Medics examined the victim and determined that multiple stitches would be required to close the laceration.
When the deputy approached Parkhurst, she stated, “Just take me to jail.” The deputy asked if she was injured due to the blood stains on her shirt, and she stated that the blood was not hers.
She refused to say anything further to the deputy.
Inside the residence, the deputy observed blood on the floor and on the couch in the locations that the victim had described.
Parkhurst was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where she is currently being held without bond. She is facing a felony charge for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
