Malcolm M. Ferguson, Jr.

Malcolm M. Ferguson, Jr. of Ocala, Florida passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the age of 86 years old. Malcolm was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, and leader. He was born to Malcolm and Elizabeth Ferguson on May 19, 1935. After graduating from Ocala High School in 1953, Malcolm attended The University of Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. While attending UF, he also married Patricia (Patty) L. Fulford, his high school sweetheart. Following graduation from UF, Malcolm was accepted into Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport Rhode Island. He graduated from OCS and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy, where he served in active and reserve duty. Malcolm retired from the Navy as senior Commander after 23 years of service. During his professional career, he worked as a Sales and Marketing Director for Procter & Gamble, West Chemical Company, and Paper Corporation of America. After retiring in 1997, he and Patty moved back to Ocala and built a home in the horse farming community of Emathla. Malcolm was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church for 24 years. During that time, he served as a deacon, taught Sunday School, and served in several ministries.

Malcolm is survived by his wife Patty; daughter, Lisa Gilmer (Mike Gilmer); son, Gary Ferguson (Kelli Ferguson); sister, May Atkinson (Bill Atkinson); 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.
