‘Kayak and Koffee’ event returns this weekend

The first ‘Kayak and Koffee’ event of the new year is being held this weekend.

On Saturday, January 8, participants will enjoy scenic kayaking from KP Hole Park to Blue Run Park.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and is open to anyone ages 15 and up. After the kayak outing, light refreshments will be served.

According to the county’s parks and recreation department, this is the perfect time of the year to spot manatees since they travel in pods to Florida’s springs and spring-fed rivers during the cooler winter months.

There is a $50 fee per participant and equipment will be provided. Everyone is encouraged to bring bug spray, sunscreen, and a bottle of water, and weather-appropriate clothing and a hat are also recommended.

For more information, or to register, visit the Marion County Parks and Recreation website.
