On Wednesday at around 2 p.m., the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious incident at a home near Belleview.

The victim stated that Moreno broke into her home, forced his way into her bedroom, and sexually assaulted her. During the attack, he took away her cellphone so she was unable to call for help.

MCSO deputies and a K-9 unit searched the area surrounding the residence. Moreno was located by members of the aviation unit who relayed his position to deputies on the ground.

Moreno was detained and taken to MCSO central operations for an interview. He admitted to kicking in the doors to the residence to gain entry and taking the victim’s phone away to keep her from calling law enforcement. He also admitted to sexually assaulting the victim.

Moreno was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held without bond. He is facing felony charges for sexual assault of a victim between the ages of 12 and 17, burglary of an occupied dwelling, and tampering with a victim.

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
