Two people killed in crash on U.S. 27 in northwest Ocala

Two people were killed in a crash on U.S. 27 near NW 82nd Street Road in Ocala.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, on Saturday at around 6:40 p.m., an SUV being driven by a 54-year-old Miami man was traveling northbound in the inside southbound lane of U.S. 27.

A 22-year-old Williston woman was traveling southbound in a sedan on U.S. 27, and she was also in the inside lane.

The front of the SUV collided with the front of the sedan. After impact, both vehicles slightly rotated clockwise and came to a final rest at the area of collision.

Both drivers received fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

Debris from both vehicles struck the windshield of an SUV that was traveling southbound beside the sedan in the outside lane.

The driver of the SUV, a 43-year-old Dartmouth, Massachusetts woman, brought the vehicle to a controlled stop on the west grass shoulder, south of the accident. Both she and her 12-year-old passenger were not injured.

The names of those involved in the accident were not released, per FHP policy.
