2022 Young Artist Competition at Reilly Arts Center this weekend

Piano, voice, and instrumental students between the ages of 12 and 25 will be competing this weekend for a chance to perform with the local orchestra.

The 2022 Young Artist Competition Honors Recital is being held on Saturday, January 22 at 3 p.m. at the Reilly Arts Center located at 500 NE 9th Street in Ocala.

The finalists from the Junior and Senior Divisions will perform with their accompanist in front of a live audience.

The Junior Division finalists include 17-year-old Riko Miyasaka (cello), 18-year-old Ashley Park (viola), 12-year-old Kye Richardson (violin), and 12-year-old Leila Warren (violin).

The Senior Division finalists include 21-year-old Armando Atanda (viola), 22-year-old Rachel Nolasco (flute), 25-year-old Isabel Springer (soprano), 19-year-old Elisabeth Thomashoff (piano), 21-year-old Jacob Wagner (soprano sax), and 17-year-old Madison Yan (piano).

After the Honors Recital performances, two winners will be chosen, one from each division.

Both winners will get the opportunity to perform their concerto live with the Ocala Symphony Orchestra at its subscription concert “The Unfinished” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

A cash prize of $1,000 will also be awarded to both winners.

General admission tickets are available and cost $10.
