New Year, New Me 5K race hits Carney Island trail this weekend

Marion County Parks and Recreation is hosting a 5K race this weekend to help residents get a healthy start to the new year.

The New Year, New Me 5K race is being held at Carney Island Recreation and Conservation Area (13275 SE 115th Avenue in Ocklawaha) on Saturday, January 22 from 8 a.m. until noon.

Participants will get to enjoy the nature and scenery as they run down the trail at Carney Island.

Registration is available up until the day of the event for a $45 fee per registrant. The event is limited to 100 participants, and packets with race materials will be handed out to all participants prior to the start of the race.
