OPD hosting ribbon cutting ceremony for ‘Legacy’ art piece in late police chief’s memory

The Ocala Police Department is displaying ‘Legacy,’ an artistic fiberglass horse, at its headquarters in honor of late police chief Greg Graham.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, January 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the OPD headquarters located at 402 S Pine Avenue.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.

‘Legacy’ is valued at $30,000 and was designed by artist Derek Grimsley with input from Amy Graham and police chief Mike Balken.

‘Legacy’ will be on display at Ocala Police Department headquarters

‘Legacy’ requires routine maintenance which includes washing and waxing every four months, paint touch-up, fissure crack repairs, and a full re-coating every three years.

In a Facebook posting, OPD stated, “Legacy has reached its final home at Ocala Police Department and will watch over all those who will continue to protect our great city.”
