19-year-old man killed in northwest Ocala shooting

A 19-year-old man was killed after multiple shots were fired in northwest Ocala on Thursday night.

At around 11:20 p.m., the Ocala Police Department received a 911 call reporting that shots were fired near the 900 block of NW 6th Avenue.

Officers immediately responded and found the victim, identified as Ferron Williams, near the 600 block of NW 10th Street with multiple gunshot wounds.

Williams was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after 12:30 a.m.

Prior to the shooting, Williams was sitting outside on the front porch of an acquaintance’s house, and he was using the public Wi-Fi from a nearby Hardee’s.

The shots seemed to come from the roadway. Williams did not seem to be in any altercation or disturbance, and OPD stated in a release that he appears to be an innocent murder victim.

Detectives are actively investigating the shooting, and both officers and victim advocates are working closely with Williams’ family during this difficult time.
