Marion County has announced that two career fairs which were put on hold last month have been rescheduled for next week.
The career fairs are scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9 at the Dunnellon Public Library (20351 Robinson Road in Dunnellon) and on Thursday, February 10 at the Marion Oaks Community Center (294 Marion Oaks Lane in Ocala).
During both career fairs, the county will look to fill several open positions in departments across the county, including Animal Services, Library, Environmental Services, and Parks and Recreation, among others.
All full-time positions (35 hours or more per week) are eligible for benefits that include health, life, dental, vision, and long-term disability insurance. Full-time employees can also participate in the Florida Retirement System.
According to the county, over 160 people attended the two career fairs that were held in January. The county received 53 applications and handed out 25 volunteer forms. Three people were hired on the spot at the fairs, two people interviewed and were hired following the fairs, and several more individuals are in the process of completing their interviews.
“We were very happy with the number of job seekers that came to our career fairs hosted by the Belleview Library and Forest Community Center in January. We hope to keep that same momentum going when we visit the Dunnellon Public Library and Marion Oaks Community Center,” said Marion County Talent Manager Kerry Blood.
During the upcoming career fairs, several county departments will be in attendance. On-the-spot interviews will be conducted and computers will be available for attendees to fill out applications.
Seasonal volunteer opportunities are also available, and the Marion County Parks and Recreation department will be on site to share information with anyone who is interested in volunteering.
