Over $21,000 in donations to benefit multiple Marion County public schools

The recent generosity of community members has resulted in over $21,000 worth of donations to multiple public schools in Marion County.

These donations will be presented to the Marion County School Board for acceptance and approval during its regular meeting on Tuesday, February 8.

With approval from the school board members, the various donations totaling $21,618.38 will benefit the following schools:

  • $1,000 to Belleview-Santos Elementary School (9600 SE U.S. Highway 441 in Belleview) to be used to purchase Christmas gifts for needy students.
  • $4,000 to Dunnellon Middle School (21005 Chestnut Street in Dunnellon) to be used towards the Fitness and Nutrition in Schools (FANS) Learning Landscape Program. This will fund a Learning Landscape that will provide hands-on educational experiences on nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • $2,500 to Forest High School (5000 SE Maricamp Road in Ocala) to be used at the principal’s discretion to benefit students, staff, and campus initiatives.
  • $2,500 to Fort King Middle School (545 NE 17th Avenue in Ocala) to be used at the principal’s discretion to benefit students, staff, and campus initiatives.
  • $2,500 to Lake Weir High School (10351 SE Maricamp Road in Ocala) to be used at the principal’s discretion to benefit students, staff, and campus initiatives.
  • $2,500 to Lake Weir Middle School (10220 SE Sunset Harbor Road in Summerfield) to be used at the principal’s discretion to benefit students, staff, and campus initiatives.
  • $2,118.38 to Osceola Middle School (526 SE Tuscawilla Avenue in Ocala) to be used to purchase engaged classroom hardware to equip students with the ability to interact with the academic materials.
  • $2,500 to Romeo Elementary School (19550 SW 36th Street in Dunnellon) to be used at the principal’s discretion.
  • $2,000 to Saddlewood Elementary School (3700 SW 43rd Court in Ocala) to be used at the principal’s discretion.

The Marion County School Board meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the School Board Meeting Room located at 512 SE 3rd Street in Ocala.
