One person was injured in a shooting that occurred on Wednesday morning in southeast Ocala.
At around 11 a.m., Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a shooting near Juniper Loop Court and Juniper Road.
Upon arrival, the deputies located one victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
Legacy Elementary School (8496 Juniper Road in Ocala) was initially placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown has since been lifted.
The shooting remains under investigation and there is an increased law enforcement presence in the area. The MCSO will provide updates as they become available.
The name of the victim was not released.
