United States medal recap from 2022 Olympic Winter Games

The 2022 Olympic Winter Games have come to a close in Beijing, and three speed skaters from Ocala will be heading home with a medal.

Erin Jackson won the gold medal in the women’s 500-meter event on Sunday, February 13. She became the first black American woman to win an individual speed skating medal.

Joey Mantia, along with his teammates, won the bronze medal in the men’s team pursuit event on Tuesday, February 15.

Four days later, Mantia missed the bronze medal by one-thousandth of a second during the men’s mass start event.

Brittany Bowe also won her first-ever individual speed skating medal when she earned the bronze medal in the women’s 1,000-meter event on Thursday, February 17.

Athletes from across the United States are taking home an additional 22 medals that were earned in a variety of events. The winners are listed below.

Gold medal winners:

  • Lindsey Jacobellis (Park City, Utah) – snowboarding (women’s snowboard cross).
  • Chloe Kim (Los Angeles, California) – snowboarding (women’s halfpipe).
  • Nathan Chen (Salt Lake City, Utah) – men’s singles (figure skating).
  • Team USA – mixed team aerials (freestyle skiing). The team consisted of Ashley Caldwell (Ashburn, Virginia), Chris Lillis (Pitsford, New York), and Justin Schoenefeld (Lawrenceburg, Indiana).
  • Team USA – mixed team snowboard cross finals (snowboarding). The team consisted of Lindsey Jacobellis (Park City, Utah) and Nick Baumgartner (Iron River, Michigan).
  • Kaillie Humphries (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) – bobsleigh (women’s monobob). This was her first Olympics representing the United States.
  • Alexander Hall (Salt Lake City, Utah) – freestyle skiing (men’s freeski slopestyle).

Silver medal winners:

  • Julia Marino (Westport, Connecticut) – women’s snowboarding slopestyle.
  • Jaelin Kauf (Alta, Wyoming) – women’s moguls.
  • Team USA – figure skating team event. The team consisted of Alexa Knierim (Addison, Illinois), Brandon Frazier (Colorado Springs, Colorado), Madison Chock (Redondo Beach, California), Evan Bates (Ann Arbor, Michigan), and Karen Chen (Fremont, California).
  • Ryan Cochran-Siegle (Burlington, Vermont) – men’s super-G.
  • Colby Stevenson (Park City, Utah) – freestyle skiing (big air).
  • Elana Meyers Taylor (Douglasville, Georgia) – bobsleigh (women’s monobob).
  • Nicholas Goepper (Lawrenceburg, Indiana) – freestyle skiing (men’s freeski slopestyle).
  • David Wise (Reno, Nevada) – freestyle skiing (men’s halfpipe).
  • Jessie Diggins (Afton, Minnesota) – women’s 30-kilometer mass start (cross-country skiing).

  • Jessie Diggins (Afton, Minnesota) – cross-country skiing (women’s individual sprint freestyle).
  • Madison Hubbell (Sylvania, Ohio) and Zach Donohue (Madison, Connecticut) – ice dance.
  • Megan Nick (Shelburne, Vermont) – freestyle skiing (women’s aerials).
  • Alex Ferreira (Aspen, Colorado) – freestyle skiing (men’s halfpipe).
  • Elana Meyers Taylor (Douglasville, Georgia) and Sylvia Hoffman (Arlington, Texas) – two-woman bobsled.
