Over $10,500 in donations to benefit multiple Marion County public schools, departments

The recent generosity of community members has resulted in just over $10,500 worth of donations to multiple public schools and departments in Marion County.

These donations will be presented to the Marion County School Board for acceptance and approval during its regular meeting on March 8.

With approval from the school board members, the various donations totaling $10,531.97, will benefit the following schools and departments:

  • Picnic hams (valued at $1,613.24) to Anthony Elementary School (9501 NE Jacksonville Road in Anthony) to be given to staff members as gifts.
  • $5,000.00 to Belleview High School (10400 SE 36th Avenue in Belleview) to be used to help offset the expenses for 36 students to attend the HOSA State Conference along with any additional HOSA-related expenses.
  • $1,000.00 to Dunnellon High School (10055 SW 180th Avenue Road in Dunnellon) to be used towards 2022 graduation expenses.
  • $2,918.73 to Marion County Public School Secondary Curriculum, Instruction and Digital Learning to be used to purchase 227 50”x32” world wall maps ($12.99/each) to be installed in every secondary ELA classroom.

The Marion County School Board meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the School Board Meeting Room located at 512 SE 3rd Street in Ocala.
