Motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash on SR 40 in Marion County

A motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle accident on State Road 40 in Marion County on Sunday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, at around 7:10 p.m., a motorcycle and sedan were traveling westbound on State Road 40 near State Road 19. A pickup truck was traveling eastbound on State Road 40.

The motorcyclist attempted to maneuver around the westbound traffic and struck the front of the pickup truck. Immediately following the impact, the pickup truck collided with the sedan and overturned onto its passenger side.

Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the accident and the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene. The FHP report did not specify the age or gender of the motorcyclist.

The occupants of the pickup truck, a 31-year-old Eustis man (driver) and 28-year-old Eustis man (passenger), both sustained minor injuries. No injuries were reported for the sedan’s occupants, a 58-year-old Ocala man (driver) and 52-year-old Ocala woman (passenger).

The names of the individuals involved in the accident were not released, per FHP policy.
