OPD looking for part-time school crossing guards

The Ocala Police Department is looking for dedicated individuals to join its School Crossing Guard team.

The part-time position involves helping children safely cross major roadways while they walk to and from school.

Other duties include recording and reporting instances of reckless driving, detecting hazards for safety concerns, and using both arms and hands to direct traffic for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.

On Mondays through Fridays, each crossing guard works three hours each day, an hour and a half in the morning and afternoon. The schedule follows regular school days throughout the year.

The salary is $14.60 per hour and there are no benefits. While no previous training is required, a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
