Marion County Public Schools has launched a new mobile app that will notify families when their student’s school bus is nearby.
“Here Comes the Bus” is an app that utilizes GPS services to send an alert when the student’s school bus is approaching the bus stop, and the app also provides a mapped visual reference on mobile devices.
According to MCPS, the app serves as an additional outreach to enhance communication between the district and families which can be used every school day. The district will continue using Skylert messaging via telephone, email, and text to share information with families regarding bus schedules and delays.
To download the free app, users can visit the Apple Store or Google Play. Users must have the Marion County Public Schools access code (670), an email address, and their child’s student identification number (lunch number) to create an account.
Any users with questions can visit the MCPS Here Comes the Bus webpage or call the MCPS Transportation Department at 352-671-7050.
