CareerSource CLM to host marine industries workforce meeting on April 20

CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion will be hosting an upcoming meeting to discuss the recruitment and training needs of businesses in marine manufacturing and related industries.

The meeting, which was originally scheduled to take place last week, has been rescheduled on Wednesday, April 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Best Western Gateway Grand Hotel (4200 NW 97th Boulevard in Gainesville). A light lunch will be provided to all attendees.

There will be a focus on the following areas of discussion during the meeting:

  • Positions currently recruiting.
  • Skills needed for entry-level workforce.
  • Skill upgrades needed for current workforce.
  • Identification of key supply chain industries.

Rusty Skinner, CEO of CareerSource CLM, said, “We want to hear from boat builders and the many related businesses in our regions as to how we can help buoy their workforce.” According to Skinner, ‘related businesses’ include trailer manufacturers, repairs and parts, boating supplies, makers of upholstery for boats, and transport of boats to market, among others.

CareerSource CLM will be joined at the meeting by CareerSource North Central Florida, and the following regional partners will also take part in the discussion: the College of Central Florida, Marion Technical College, Nature Coast Business Development Council, Santa Fe College, and the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce.
