The request for quotes is currently posted through the City of Ocala’s Procurement and Contracting Office and runs through Wednesday, May 4 at 2 p.m.

According to the scope of work outlined in the request, the café area is intended to provide healthy and affordable grab-and-go or quick-service breakfast, lunch, and beverage options for the daily users of the community center. The café’s operator will have access to a shared 965 square-foot commercial kitchen.

At least 50% of the menu’s entrees must include healthy options for breakfast and lunch. The suggested food items for the menu include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Beverages: coffee, tea, juices, healthy smoothies, breakfast beverages, and bottled drinks.
  • Breakfast: sandwiches, wraps, fresh fruit, and grab-and-go cereals.
  • Lunch: sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads, fresh fruit, and other lunch items.

The menu may include static entrees along with daily or weekly off-menu special items, and the final menu must include nutritional information, including the total number of calories.

In addition to the café, the Mary Sue Rich Community Center, which is located at 1812 NW 21st Avenue in Ocala, will have a full schedule of daily and weekly recreational and sports programming, a branch of the Marion County Public Library, and a rental banquet hall.

The grand opening of the community center is expected in early December of 2022, and the community center will be open seven days a week: Monday through Friday (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), Saturday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and Sunday (12 p.m. to 5 p.m.).
