Tuscawilla Park to host Earthfest on Saturday

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department is preparing for the return of Earthfest, Ocala’s Arbor Day celebration, on Saturday, April 23.

Earthfest will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tuscawilla Park, which is located at 800 NE Sanchez Avenue in Ocala. The event will offer plenty of activities for adults and kids alike.

The popular Youth Fishing Derby will return from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This free event will allow children ages 14 and under the chance to catch and release fish at Lake Tuscawilla.

Prizes will be awarded in three age group brackets for those who catch the most fish and the biggest fish. While participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment and bait, a limited number of supplies will be available. Registration is not required.

In addition to the Youth Fishing Derby, the event will include tree and rock wall climbing, Eco-friendly vendors, an interactive butterfly exhibit, animal rescues, food trucks, and live entertainment by Side Piece. Tree sapling giveaways will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
