Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary School has purchased a new vending machine that offers books instead of snacks.
On Tuesday morning, the Puc Puggy Chapter NSDAR presented a check in the amount of $3,995 to Cynthia Brodie, Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary School’s principal, during a ceremony that was held in the school cafeteria.

Literacy is the primary focus of Brodie’s administration, and these funds were used to purchase the elementary school’s new Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine.

The unique vending machine is filled with books to encourage each student to meet their literacy goals. As the students reach literacy milestones, they will receive special tokens which can then be used to purchase their own books.
Following the check presentation, a student placed the first token into the vending machine.

Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary School is located at 16705 SE 134th Terrace in Weirsdale. For more information, contact the school at 352-671-6150.
