Walmart cashier arrested after store discovers multiple thefts

An 18-year-old cashier at a local Walmart was arrested after the store discovered multiple instances of theft.

On Tuesday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the Walmart located at 9570 SW Highway 200 in Ocala in reference to the reported thefts. Upon arrival, a loss prevention associate at the store advised that one of the store’s employees, Angelice Isabel Vasquez, had incorrectly scanned items on 11 different occasions.

The deputy was shown video surveillance footage from the times of the incidents. The deputy observed Vasquez as she scanned multiple items, voided them at the cash register, and then overrode the prices to pay a lesser amount.

The loss prevention associate stated that Vasquez did not have permission to change the price of items.

According to the MCSO report, the incidents of theft involving Vasquez occurred on March 10, March 17, March 19, March 27, and March 31. The store estimated that these fraudulent transactions resulted in the loss of approximately $220.

Vasquez was located and arrested on Tuesday, and she was transported to the Marion County Jail shortly before 8:15 p.m. She is currently being held on $2,000 bond, and she is facing a felony charge for fraud (obtaining property under $20,000).

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
