Florida Department of Health in Marion County hosting free self-discovery workshop for young men

The Florida Department of Health in Marion County is hosting a free self-discovery workshop and dinner next week for young men ages 11 and older.

The event will be held on Tuesday, April 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Webber Center at the College of Central Florida, which is located at 3001 SW College Road in Ocala.

The theme of the event is “Man in the Mirror – a conversation for men, by men.” The event is sponsored by the Florida Department of Health in Marion County’s BRAZEN program which aims to educate young people on risk avoidance.

The featured speaker at the event will be Ocala native Jamie Gilmore, Jr., co-founder of Kut Different Inc. The local nonprofit organization is dedicated to helping young men realize their potential as they transition into adulthood.

“I want each individual to leave with a burning desire to find the answers to two questions: Who am I? Where am I going? I will give participants strategies and tools to be able to find the answers to these questions and empower them to go out and conquer the man in the mirror,” said Gilmore.

Dinner will be served to all attendees, and giveaways will also be provided.
