A ten-piece orchestra from Jacksonville that plays high-energy salsa and Afro-Cuban music will headline a free concert this week as part of the 2022 Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series.

On Friday, April 29, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., musical group LPT will hit the stage at Webb Field (1501 West Silver Springs Boulevard).

Additional free concerts will be held on each Friday through July 1 (excluding May 27), and concertgoers will be treated to live music from the following headliners:

  • Friday, May 6 – Indigenous (Blues).
  • Friday, May 13 – The Byrne Brothers (Celtic).
  • Friday, May 20 – The Drifters featuring Rick Sheppard (R&B/Soul).
  • Friday, June 3 – Reggae Force (Reggae).
  • Friday, June 10 – Bette Smith (Soul/Rock).

  • Friday, June 24 – Melvin Williams (Inspirational).
  • Friday, July 1 – Grand Finale with Miles Nielsen and The Rusted Hearts, and a patriotic performance with the Ocala Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to featuring a diverse lineup of artists that spans multiple musical genres, the concert series will also celebrate Black Music Month in June with African American and Black musicians and a partnership with Ocala’s Juneteenth Celebration.

Each concert will spotlight a local non-profit organization that will conduct a special activity or performance during the event’s intermission. There will also be plenty of food trucks and an Ocala Recreation Mobile trailer with outdoor games and activities.

Admission to each concert is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. The music series is a ‘rain or shine’ event, and if a rain call is made, the concert will be moved indoors at the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center (1510 NW 4th Street).
