Early Learning Coalition hosting Pinwheels for Prevention event

The Early Learning Coalition of Marion County (ELCMC) is hosting a free Pinwheels for Prevention Family Fun Drive-Thru, Park, and Play event this weekend.

The family-friendly event is being held on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the College of Central Florida (3001 SW College Road). It will include a drive-thru with free resources for parents, along with a children’s activity and play area with free face painting and shaved ice treats from Kona Ice.

Families of children who are eight years old or younger will have the opportunity to complete a free developmental screening which includes follow-up services. Children will also receive free books and toys while supplies last.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention month, and the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign aims to promote healthy child development while raising awareness of the importance of working together to strengthen families to prevent child abuse and neglect before it happens.

According to ELCMC, the nonprofit organization provides families with access to quality early learning programs that nurture each child’s learning potential and prepares them for their educational success.
