Ocala woman jailed after being accused of choking male victim

A 30-year-old Ocala woman was arrested after a male victim accused her of choking him during an argument.

On Wednesday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a local residence in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, the male victim told the deputy that he had been choked by Giovanna Nicolette Castrogiovani.

The victim stated that the incident began with an argument after he asked Castrogiovani to take a shower. During the argument, he stated that he got out of bed, went into another room, and laid down.

The MCSO report indicated that the victim responded to a Facebook post that Castrogiovani had published, and this escalated the argument. Castrogiovani allegedly entered the room where he was laying down and grabbed his shirt to try to “rip him out of bed.”

According to the victim, Castrogiovani then placed her hands on his throat and squeezed so hard that he was unable to breathe.

While at the residence, the deputy observed that the victim’s shirt was ripped under his left sleeve. The victim’s neck also had visible bruising and scratches that appeared to have been caused by fingernails.

The deputy located Castrogiovani and she agreed to discuss the incident. While she admitted to arguing with the victim, she claimed that there was no physical contact between the two of them.

When asked how the victim received the injuries to his neck, she told the deputy, “I don’t know.”

Castrogiovani was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where she is currently being held without bond. She is facing a felony charge for domestic battery by strangulation.

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
