Barry Oathout, 80, passed away peacefully at home in Daytona Beach Friday, May 6, 2022, with his life long partner Deborah Chandley and his son Barry Christopher “Chris” at his side. He was born October 31, 1941, in Albany, New York to Benno and Dorothy Dyer Oathout.

Barry worked 35 years at the Tri-State Industrial Laundry and 13 years as a school bus driver at Bethlehem Central School District, where he enjoyed his time on the bus with the school kids. Barry also enjoyed going to camp at Paradise Cove in Sylvan Beach. He would have the best time fishing on Oneida Lake and sitting around campfires with his friends.

In 2008, he retired to Ocala, Florida, and joined OSA Gun Range, where he enjoyed competition shooting with the guys, and on Wednesdays teaching the ladies how to shoot. In 2017, Barry fulfilled his life-long dream of living near the beach when he moved with Deborah to Daytona Beach, Florida. He loved surf-fishing, and his weekly lunchtime and visits with his son Chris. Barry was known as the “blue-eyed guy with the big smile and quick wit”. He was wonderful at making everyone laugh and smile.

Barry is survived by his soul mate and partner of 22 years, Deborah Chandley, son, Barry Christopher (Barbara), daughter, Kelly, sister Lynn (Harold) Hunt, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Barry wished there to be no funeral services but rather for people to remember him as he was. Barry is so dearly loved by his family and friends, and his love and memory will live in our hearts forever.
