Ocala Police Department’s ice cream truck heading to Tuscawilla Park

The Ocala Police Department’s ice cream truck, The Polar Patrol, will be serving frozen treats at Tuscawilla Park this weekend.

On Saturday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., residents of all ages can stop by the park for free ice cream from the police department. The one-hour event will allow for the officers to meet and speak with the local residents while they enjoy ice cream together.

The Polar Patrol regularly takes trips out into the community and is operated by uniformed police officers. When the program launched last year, OPD police chief Mike Balken said that he believes police officers visiting neighborhoods and handing out free ice cream will enable children and families to talk, listen, and build trust with police.

Tuscawilla Park is located at 829 NE Sanchez Avenue in Ocala.
