A 74-year-old Ocala man is facing 30 felony charges after child pornography was discovered on a desktop computer that was inside his residence.
On Friday, May 13, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office detective executed a search warrant on a home in the 6600 block of NW 62nd Avenue after an investigation revealed that an electronic device inside the home was downloading and transmitting child pornography.
The detective made contact with a man, identified as Edward Lynn Calvert, who admitted that he was the sole occupant of the residence. He refused to answer any further questions.
The residence was searched and several electronic devices were seized. Among those devices was a desktop computer, and a digital forensics technician conducted an extraction of the computer.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators uncovered additional evidence on the computer which led them to believe that Calvert had downloaded and shared child pornography.
Calvert was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held on $150,000 bond. He is facing 20 felony charges for possession of child pornography and 10 felony charges for transmission of child pornography by electronic device or equipment.
A court date has been scheduled on Tuesday, June 14 at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
