The Humane Society of Marion County recently helped over 90 of its sheltered dogs and cats find new homes during the first two weeks of May.
The Humane Society partnered with nonprofit organization the Bissel Pet Foundation to help “empty the shelters” during an event that kicked off on Monday, May 2 and ended on Sunday, May 15.
According to a social media post from the Humane Society, 40 dogs and 54 cats were successfully adopted in the two-week period, and that number could rise once additional adoptions from the event are finalized.
In addition, the Bissel Pet Foundation helped transfer 45 animals from municipal shelters and kill shelters in hopes of finding those pets a loving home.
“We are so grateful for the Bissel Pet Foundation and the hundreds to thousands of adoptions and transfers they sponsored nationwide, and for assisting us in our mission to prevent cruelty, suffering, and the overpopulation of animals,” said the Humane Society on its Facebook webpage.
