Marion County Public Schools to continue free meals for students over summer

Marion County Public Schools will continue serving students in the community with free meals this summer as part of its Summer Food Service Program.

According to a press release from MCPS, the district anticipates that over 200,000 meals will be provided to students this summer.

The full-service meal programs will be offered to students at the following schools every Monday through Thursday, from June 6 to July 14 (excluding the July 4 holiday):

Belleview High, Belleview Middle, Belleview-Santos Elementary, College Park Elementary, Dunnellon Elementary, Dunnellon High, Dunnellon Middle, Emerald Shores Elementary, Forest High, Fort King Middle, Fort McCoy School, Harbour View Elementary, Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks, Howard Middle, Lake Weir High, Lake Weir Middle, Legacy Elementary, Liberty Middle, Maplewood Elementary, Marion Charter, Marion Oaks Elementary, Marion Technical Institute, North Marion High, North Marion Middle, Oakcrest Elementary, Osceola Middle, Reddick-Collier Elementary, South Ocala Elementary, Sparr Elementary, Sunrise Elementary, Vanguard High, Ward-Highlands Elementary, and West Port High.

Any students (ages 18 or younger) are eligible for this program, and it requires no application or income verification.

The following organizations will also be community delivery centers to serve students who are participating in their respective programs: Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Boys & Girls Clubs (in Dunnellon, Marion County, and Silver Springs Shores), Central Christian Church, E.D. Croskey Recreation Center, Frank Deluca YMCA, Greater New Hope Church, Lillian Bryant Center, and Ocala Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The Summer Food Service Program operates through reimbursements from Florida’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
