Ocala Police Department looking for missing 69-year-old man

Update from the Ocala Police Department: Anthony Monroe has been found and is safe.

The Ocala Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 69-year-old man.

According to the police department, Anthony Monroe resides at an assisted living facility in southwest Ocala. He left his residence at around 5 a.m. on Monday, June 6, and he has not returned.

On Monday evening, Ocala police officers conducted an extensive search around the residence, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office also conducted an aerial search of the wooded areas surrounding the residence. Anthony was not located.

Anthony was entered in FCIC as missing and a teletype was sent to the Gainesville Police Department to check their local hospitals, since he has previously gone missing and has been located there. The police officers in Gainesville learned that Anthony had been a patient at UF Health Shand’s Hospital on Monday, but he was discharged at 10:30 p.m.

Anthony’s whereabouts after he was discharged from the hospital are no longer known, and there are concerns for his safety since he suffers from multiple health conditions.
