A summer reading and hiking event is being held at Fort King National Historic Landmark this weekend for children between the ages of 4 and 7.
The event, Summer at the Fort, will take place on Saturday, June 18 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Fort King National Historic Landmark, which is located at 3925 E Fort King Street in Ocala.
During the free event, park rangers will read two books: ‘It’s Summer’ and ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance.’ The children in attendance will also enjoy songs, reading activities, and participation prizes.

The event will wrap up with a guided hike through the park gardens and woods, and each child will have the opportunity to make a nature bookmark.
