Cross-stitch class being held at Fort King National Historic Landmark

The Fort King National Historic Landmark is continuing its series of historic cooking and crafting classes this weekend.

The next hands-on class, Cross Stitch, is being held on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. During this class, participants will learn how pioneer women passed the time while creating a cross-stitch piece that can be taken home.

The ‘Historic Homesteading’ series will feature additional monthly classes throughout the year. In July, participants will learn how to make full-sized pioneer brooms, and the class in August will focus on making no-sew rag rugs.

The classes are for adults over the age of 18, and there is a $15 fee to participate.

All classes will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fort King National Historic Landmark, which is located at 3925 E Fort King Street in Ocala.

For more information on the upcoming classes, or to register, visit the Ocala Recreation and Parks Department program webpage and search for “Historic Homesteading Series.”
