Marion County is inviting residents to participate in a survey which will help determine where new and improved broadband services are needed throughout the county.
Earlier this year, Marion County partnered with Televate, a technology consulting firm, to begin the Broadband Feasibility Study to better determine the county’s internet service needs. As part of that study, households and businesses are encouraged to participate in separate ‘eCheckup’ surveys that will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
While Marion County acknowledges that the surveys are a bit on the longer side, each question will give the county access to helpful information to assist with providing better broadband service to residents.
The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity is also enlisting the public’s help to take an internet speed test to further develop Florida’s Broadband Availability Map. Marion County residents who participate in this speed test will help the state identify gaps in high-speed internet service access.
The data collected from the test will be displayed on the Florida Broadband Availability Map in real time, and the resulting map will assist local communities and internet service providers with advancing broadband infrastructure expansion goals. Anyone interested in participating can click here to take the Florida’s Broadband Speed Test.
