FHP looking for hit-and-run driver who killed pedestrian in Levy County

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Levy County on Friday evening.

According to the FHP incident report, a Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling southbound on County Road 337, near SE 59th place, at around 7 p.m.

A 47-year-old woman from Morriston was walking southbound on the right edge of County Road 337, and she was pushing a white bicycle. For reasons that are unknown, the pickup truck approached the woman and struck her.

The impact propelled the woman onto the grass shoulder. After the collision, the pickup truck fled the scene of the accident.

The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

FHP investigators are turning to the public for information regarding the driver of the pickup truck that was involved in the fatal crash. According to FHP, the pickup truck is believed to be a 2006-2011 Ford Ranger, and it should be missing the right headlight and turn signal assembly.
