A 31-year-old Ocklawaha man with a prior domestic battery conviction was arrested after a female victim accused him of striking and choking her during an argument.
On Wednesday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a local residence in reference to a domestic battery incident. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the female victim who was crying in front of the residence.
The victim advised that she was in the pool with a relative. After spending time in the water, the victim stated that she entered the residence and changed clothing.
Ryan Bradley Landon was sleeping on a nearby bed while the victim finished getting dressed. She stated that Landon then woke up and started an argument over her not being in bed.
According to the victim, the argument became physical, and Landon allegedly punched her in her left ear, headbutted her in the face, and choked her. The victim stated that the relative who had been in the pool, along with several children, were inside the residence when the incident occurred.
Paramedics responded to the residence and observed that the victim’s nose was swollen, and bruising was starting to develop.
The MCSO report indicated that the deputy spoke with one of the witnesses who claimed to have only seen Landon shove the victim outside of the door to the residence. A second witness advised that Landon had “pushed the victim against the wall and hit her on her arms,” and a third witness also claimed to have seen Landon hit the victim.
The deputy made contact with Landon, and he stated that he began arguing with the victim due to her being outside and not in bed. He denied that any physical altercation with the victim had occurred.
A computer check of Landon revealed that he was previously convicted in Marion County for domestic battery in July of 2015.
Landon was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held without bond. He is facing a felony charge for domestic battery (second or subsequent offense).
A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
