Two Ocala hospitals nationally recognized for commitment to cardiovascular care

HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital have been nationally recognized by the American Heart Association for their commitment to providing high-quality cardiovascular care.

Both local hospitals recently earned the following achievement awards for demonstrating commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease and stroke, which has led to more lives saved and shorter recovery times:

  • HCA Florida Ocala Hospital: Get With The Guidelines – Stroke GOLD PLUS with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus; Advanced Therapy; and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.
  • HCA Florida West Marion Hospital: Get With The Guidelines – Stroke SILVER PLUS with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite; and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.

In the United States, someone has a stroke or heart attack every 40 seconds. Heart disease and stroke are the number one and number five causes of death in the country, respectively, and studies have shown that patients have a better chance of recovery when healthcare providers consistently follow treatment guidelines.

As participants in the ‘Get With The Guidelines’ programs, HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital both qualified for the awards by demonstrating how their organizations have committed to improving quality care.

Chad Christianson, HCA Florida Ocala Hospital CEO, stated that the hospital is committed to improving care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines while streamlining processes to ensure timely and proper care for heart attacks and strokes.

“The ‘Get With The Guidelines’ program makes it easier for our teams to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work on a daily basis, which helps us ensure more people in Marion County experience longer, healthier lives,” said Christianson.

HCA Florida West Marion Hospital CEO Peter Hemstead expressed that the hospital’s team is proud to be recognized for providing timely and proper care for heart attacks and strokes. Hemstead added that the ‘Get With The Guidelines’ program “helps our team provide top care for Marion County and our patients.”
