Cal Ripken Rookie World Series returning to Ocala/Marion County

The Cal Ripken Rookie World Series is heading to Marion County next week.

The week-long tournament will feature eight teams from across the country and the Bahamas. The games will be played on Monday, August 1 through Friday, August 5, with each game starting at 5 p.m. at the Rotary Sportsplex, which is located at 5220 SE Maricamp Road in Ocala.

The Rotary Sportsplex of Marion County will host the 2022 Cal Ripken Rookie World Series

The championship game and closing ceremonies will take place on Saturday, August 6.

To kick off the tournament, there will be a parade around the Downtown Ocala Square, followed by opening ceremonies with elected officials and special dignitaries welcoming the teams to Ocala/Marion County.

According to a press release from Marion County, this sporting event is expected to bring an estimated economic impact of over $500,000 to the county with the players, coaches, parents, and families visiting the area as well.

The selection of Marion County as a returning host this summer is a collaborative achievement thanks to the Marion County Parks and Recreation Department, the Ocala/Marion County Visitors and Convention Bureau, and the Rotary Sportsplex Board of Directors working together to help foster economic growth in the community.
