Ronald Clarence Matthews passed away July 26, 2022.
Ronald came into this world on December 21, 1941, at Harlem Hospital in Harlem, New York. He was the second born child to Mr. Clarence Matthews and his beautiful wife, Nellie (Glover). Ronald, his elder sister, Arlene, and brother, Clifford, all grew up in Harlem, New York. The Matthews family were practicing Catholics and enjoyed strong family ties.
In 1960, Ronald graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, NY, and went on to Bronx Community College. He later became a member of the New York Transit Police Department. Ronald served in Blue for over 18 years before retiring. He also owned his own lawn service and floor care business. Ronald enjoyed working, and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved fishing, traveling, camping, and riding his tractor. He loved anything outdoors.
In 1962, Ronald married his wife, Frankie Patricia Smith and lived in Brooklyn for a short time. Soon after, Ronald and Frankie made a home in Deer Park, Long Island, New York. From this union, they had three children.
In 1982, Ronald and Frankie moved to Ocala, Fl. While in Ocala, Ronald worked for Marion County Public Schools as a bus driver. Once he stopped working for Marion County, Ronald entered into full retirement where he enjoyed working on his equipment and playing with his beloved dogs.
Welcoming Ronald home are Clarence (father), Nellie (mother), Arlene (sister), and Clifford (brother).
Left to carry on his memory are his beautiful wife of 60 years, Frankie Patricia Matthews, sons Cameron (Kecia), Todd (Special Friend Leah), daughter Ronni Rene’ (Corey), 4 grandsons, Todd Jr., Devin, Tavontre Malic and Treyven, 2 granddaughters, Kristen and Tameka, 3 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters, godson Christopher Digirolomo, special son David Foster Sr., and special daughter April Honeysucker.
