Thelma Sally Julien

Thelma Sally Julien, 91, born October 23, 1930 in San Fernando, Trinidad, West Indies, to Cantewell Ventour and Eulie Browne, passed away July 18, 2022 in Ocala, Marion County, Florida.

Sally’s days in Trinidad was a time of friends, family and finding her love. Early in life, Sally met Selwyn Julien and their romance blossomed over time. Selwyn and Sally decided to explore another country, Canada. After a few years there, Sally was pregnant with her first son, Terrence. Both Selwyn and Sally moved to America for more opportunity and in Washington D.C, where Terrence was born. After years in Washington, The Julien family moved to Buffalo, NY where their second son Steven was born.

Sally was an excellent mother and after raising 2 great sons, Sally worked for the State of Delaware as a computer programmer. While raising her family, Sally went back to College and in 1989 she completed her Bachelor of Science in Management at Goldey-Beacon College. Throughout the years she was wonderful wife, phenomenal mother and praised by all her family and friends. Sally’s infectious smile and zest for life was the spark that kept the Julien Family fully fueled. Sally was also very religious, with a strong Episcopalian Church upbringing she therefore, chose Ocala West Church of the Nazarene as her final Church of praise.

Sally loved to watch old movies and was an avid fan of professional football (Washington Redskins), entertaining family and guests, cooking some of the best Trinidadian food and she consistently was able to change any mood for the better. Sally’s greatest strength was to lead and embody the spirit of joy and happiness to others.

Sally is survived by two sons, Terrence and Steven Julien; daughter-in-law Helen Butler-Julien; sisters, Cheryl and Brenda Celestine, Joyce and Patsie Ventour, Audrey Ventour-Ford, brother-in-law Saul Ford, sister by marriage Linda Julien and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
