Raymond George Naeyaert, age 78, of Ocala, Florida passed away on July 28, 2022. Raymond was born in Detroit, Michigan to George and Blanche Naeyaert on July 5, 1944.
After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Agriculture, Ray began a distinguished career with the United States Navy as a Naval Aviator. After his Naval Service, he joined the US Department of Agriculture and would spend the next 24 years with USDA, 17 as Chief, Farm Loan Programs for Florida and the USVI. He retired in 2003 with 31 years of Federal Service.
In his spare time, Ray enjoyed wood-working and was known for his hand turned exotic wood bowls and finely detailed projects, often made especially for a member of his family or a friend. He spent countless hours in his impressive wood shop, unless of course his beloved Gator Football team was on the field.
He is survived by three children; Cynthia Naeyaert Saunders (Steven), Jennifer Leigh Whitman (Shawn) and Jeffrey Howell Naeyaert; four grandchildren, Ty, Delaney, Ellie and Tanner; three sisters, one brother, several nieces and nephews and step-children. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles, and his wife Linda M. Naeyaert.
Funeral Service will be held at Florida National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 10am.
