Marion County Public Schools has released orientation dates and times for the 2022-2023 school year.
The special orientation “meet and greets” will provide parents and students with advance notice of class schedules, bell times, teacher assignments, bus routes and stop times, extra-curricular activities, and other school-related activities.
MCPS encourages all families to ensure that their contact information is correct during these orientations and to sign up for free online Family Access at each school which will give them 24/7 access to student grades, attendance, academic, and additional information on any mobile device.
Below is a listing of orientation dates and times for each school, sorted alphabetically by school and school level. New students, especially kindergarten-aged children, should register now for school to avoid long lines on Wednesday, August 10, which is the first day of class for students in Marion County Public Schools.
- Elementary School orientation:
- Anthony – August 8 at 10 a.m. (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten); 10:45 a.m. (1st through 5th grades).
- Belleview – August 8 at 1 p.m.
- Belleview-Santos – August 9 at 9 a.m.
- College Park – August 9 at 8:30 a.m. (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grades); 9:15 a.m. (3rd through 5th grades).
- Dr. N.H. Jones – August 9 at 12 p.m. (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grades); 1 p.m. (3rd through 5th grades).
- Dunnellon – August 8 at 9 a.m.
- East Marion – August 8 at 1 p.m.
- Eighth Street – August 9 at 11 a.m.
- Emerald Shores – August 8 at 1:30 p.m. (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten); August 9 at 1:30 p.m. (1st through 5th grades).
- Fessenden – August 8 at 1 p.m.
- Fordham Early Learning Academy – August 8 at 10:30 a.m.

- Fort King – August 9 at 1 p.m. (6th grade and new students).
- Howard – August 8 at 2 p.m. (7th and 8th grade new students); 2:45 p.m. (6th grade new students).
- Lake Weir – August 8 at 12 p.m.
- Liberty – August 8 at 2 p.m. (6th grade and new students).
- North Marion – August 8 at 10 a.m.
- Osceola – August 8 at 9 a.m. (6th grade and new students).
- High School orientation:
- Belleview – August 8 at 2 p.m. (9th grade preview – students only); 4 p.m. (all students and parents).
- Dunnellon – August 8 at 5:30 p.m.
- Forest – August 8 and 9 at 8 a.m. (9th grade); August 8 at 5:30 p.m. (returning students).
- Hillcrest School – August 9 at 10 a.m. (new families); 11 a.m. (Title 1 – all families); 11:30 a.m. (returning families).
- Lake Weir – August 8 at 2 p.m. (new students).
- Marion Virtual – individual orientations with teachers via Zoom.
- Marion Technical Institute (MTI) – August 8 at 6 p.m.
- North Marion – August 8 at 5:30 p.m.
- Vanguard – August 8 at 6 p.m.
- West Port – August 8 at 6 p.m. (9th grade).
