Marion County Fire Rescue training class focuses on explosives

Marion County Fire Rescue’s first responders learned about various explosives during a training class that was held earlier this week.

On Thursday, August 4, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad stopped by MCFR’s Cause and Origin Fire Investigation class to demonstrate different types of explosives.

The first responders in attendance were joined by Marion County commissioner Jeff Gold, and they watched as the bomb squad detonated the explosives.

The class is taught by MCFR Fire Marshal Ken McCann, saving Marion County taxpayers thousands of dollars by not outsourcing the class. On its Facebook webpage, MCFR stated that the demonstration of explosive materials is invaluable for the first responders when they arrive on a scene.
