William Scott Mansfield

William Scott “Bill” Mansfield of Ocala, FL, passed away July 28, 2022. He was 89.

Bill was born May 17, 1933 in Chicago, IL. He was the only child of Martha Emma (Cummings) and Walter Scott Mansfield. Bill and his parents moved to Gainesville, FL, in the 1940s.

He graduated from P.K. Younge High School in Gainesville and attended the University of Florida, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and played in the marching band. He also served in the United States Navy.

After moving to Ocala, Bill was a well-known radio personality at WMOP and WTMC radio stations. In between radio gigs, he was the operations director at Rainbow Springs, the tourist attraction. He left the radio business to become the communications director at Munroe Regional Medical Center for many years. He then ran the MRMC Resource Center for a few years before retiring.

He was active in the Jaycees, the Rotary Club, and was a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church for more than 50 years. At Grace, he was a layreader and served on the vestry. He enjoyed old sports cars, model airplanes, and dogs, especially the many collies he owned throughout the years.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Mansfield, and his son-in-law, Randy Kiser. He is survived by his children, Martha Kiser of St Louis, MO; Dix Mansfield (Charlene) of Black Mountain, NC; Scott Mansfield (Marjorie) of Ocala, FL; and Elizabeth Mansfield of Kensington, MD.; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He will be interred next to his wife in the memorial garden at Grace Episcopal Church. Donations can be made to the General Fund at Grace Episcopal Church, 510 SE Broadway Street, Ocala, FL, 34471.
