‘Legends of the Fort’ event heading to Fort King National Historic Landmark

Visitors will have the opportunity to step back into history to meet the legends of the fort’s past during an upcoming event at the Fort King National Historic Landmark.

The Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host its first annual ‘Legends of the Fort’ event on Saturday, October 8, and Sunday, October 9, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fort King Historic Landmark, which is located at 3925 E Fort King Street.

The event will feature a one-hour guided lantern tour that will provide tales from the past while visitors learn about the grounds of Ocala’s Seminole War historic site. The group tours will depart every 10 minutes throughout the event.

Those in attendance will be able to partake in old-fashioned games such as checkers, horseshoes, and cornhole, and live music will round out an evening of fun. Refreshments will also be available for purchase.

According to the recreation and parks department, tickets are now on sale and must be purchased online. Walk-up ticket sales will not be available on the night of the event. General admission is $5 per participant, and tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
