Alachua County Sheriff’s Office releases dashcam video showing pursuit of stolen box truck on I-75

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office has released dashcam video footage showing the pursuit of a stolen box truck as the driver fled from ACSO deputies and Florida Highway Patrol troopers on Interstate 75.

The 2015 Isuzu box truck, which had been reported stolen out of Hillsborough County, was traveling northbound on I-75 on Tuesday morning. The stolen vehicle was spotted in Marion County, near the Alachua County line, and FHP was notified.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Brandon J. Baker from Riverview, was allegedly involved in a carjacking incident prior to stealing the box truck.

As the stolen vehicle was being pursued by law enforcement, Baker began traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on I-75. ACSO deputies and FHP troopers made multiple attempts to stop the vehicle without success.

The stolen vehicle exited I-75 onto SW Archer Road, and the pursuit continued through portions of Butler Plaza, the 34th Street Plaza, and the 2100 block of 34th Street. Baker then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly taken into custody.

The dashcam video footage of the pursuit can be viewed below.

On its Facebook webpage, ACSO stated, “Sheriff Clovis Watson, Jr. would like to commend the law enforcement officers involved in this incident who were able to stop this dangerous suspect before he seriously injured or killed anyone. You can see just how serious this incident was by watching our video.”

Baker was arrested and transported to Alachua County Jail. He is facing multiple felony charges, and additional charges have also been filed by the Tampa Police Department.
