The Great Outdoor Recreation Pages (Gorp) recently ranked Ocala as the seventh best paddling town in the United States.
Gorp’s Top 7 list, which was released last week, recognizes Juniper Run as being “one of the most highly recommended places to canoe or kayak in Ocala.” The paddling trail, which is approximately seven miles long, takes between three-and-a-half to five hours to complete.
Gorp pointed out that visitors making the trip to Juniper Run can go for a swim or take a hike in the Ocala National Forest. The website also highlighted several other activities that can be enjoyed in Ocala, including zip lines, parks, trails, and museums.
According to its website, Gorp was founded in 1995 and was one of the first web resources dedicated exclusively to the outdoors. Nowadays, Gorp mainly focuses on destination guides, how-to tutorials, and gear reviews.
