Ocala contractor looking for $3.6 million contract with Marion County for resurfacing of CR 314A

Marion County may soon enter into a six-month, $3.6 million contract with an Ocala-based company to resurface County Road 314A, from E State Road 40 to NE Highway 314.

Anderson Columbia Company, Inc. will look for approval of the 180-day contract during the Marion County Board of County Commissioners regular meeting on Wednesday, September 7.

Under the contract, the work would include overlaying the existing pavement, constructing side street and driveway aprons, removing/adding cross drains and end treatments, constructing stabilized shoulders, sodding shoulders, and pavement markings, according to county records.

Marion County Procurement Services advertised a bid for the resurfacing project, and a total of three bids were received. Anderson Columbia Company, Inc. was the lowest bidder at just under $3,665,795.

Additional bids were also received by Ocala-based C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. (nearly $4.1 million) and Lowell-based Art Walker Construction, Inc. (just over $4.5 million).

County staff is recommending approval of the contract with Anderson Columbia Company, Inc. since the company was the lowest responsive bidder. The commissioners will vote on whether to approve or deny the contract during their regularly scheduled meeting on September 7.

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the McPherson Governmental Campus Auditorium (601 SE 25th Avenue) unless otherwise noted.
