Reilly Noir Jazz series returns this month to NOMA Black Box

Reilly Noir Jazz nights are returning to the Reilly Arts Center with nine shows that will feature award-winning jazz musicians.

The music series will include one show every month, beginning on September 9, 2022, through May 12, 2023, in the NOMA Black Box at the Reilly Arts Center located at 500 NE 9th Street in Ocala.

General admission tickets cost $25, and VIP tables are also available for $175. VIP includes four admission tickets, a reserved table, and the first round of drinks.

The Reilly Noir Jazz nights will kick off on Friday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m. with a performance from Dayve Stewart, a lead alto and music producer from Orlando. Stewart plays a wide range, including smooth jazz, bop, and bebop while seamlessly blending his jazzy flair with a modern pop record. He is known for engaging the audience and playing amongst the crowd.

The following musicians have also been confirmed for the 2022-2023 Reilly Noir Jazz nights series:

  • Jane Kozhevnikova on Friday, October 7, 2022 (7:30 p.m.). Kozhevnikova is an award-winning University of Florida jazz composer, and she has a new crossover smooth jazz and bebop group. She composes in various styles and genres, from classical to jazz and tango, and she blends them. In 2019, she received a DownBeat Magazine Outstanding Performance award in the Latin jazz category with her original jazz-tango compositions.
  • Marco Bojorquez and “CuBop” on Friday, November 18, 2022 (7:30 p.m.). The group was nominated for “Best Jazz Act” in Orlando, and they perform with Robotman, Chris Cortez, and may of Central Florida’s top players. Their music is described as jazz mixed with improvisational, and they tie different styles of music together, such as combining jazz with hip hop or flamenco.
  • Jeff Rupert on Friday, December 9, 2022 (7:30 p.m.). Rupert is a talented saxophonist, composer, record producer, and recording artist. He is the director of Jazz Studies at the University of Central Florida, and he has been featured as a soloist on dozens of recordings with artists that include Sam Rivers, Mel Tormé, Diane Schuur, Benny Carter, and Maynard Ferguson.
  • Per and Tamara Danielsson on Friday, January 13, 2023 (7:30 p.m). Per is the piano instructor at the University of Central Florida, and his wife, Tamara, performs at Disney. Per is a talented Jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and educator, and throughout his career he has performed with many leading jazz artists and entertainers such as Rich Matteson, Louis Bellson, Clark Terry, Rosemary Clooney, Don Braden, and more. Tamara is a skilled saxophonist who has won a Downbeat Student Recording Award, a guest soloist spot with the Cal-State Northridge Jazz Ensemble at the NAJE Conference, and the NAJE’s “New Young Talent Award,” among other accolades and awards.
  • The Carlos Vizoso Band on Friday, February 3, 2023 (7:30 p.m.). Vizoso is currently an instructor for jazz at the University of Florida, and he has taught Jazz Improvisation, Jazz Fundamentals 1 and 2, Jazz Chamber Music, and Jazz History. His band features high energy smooth Jazz and funk which highlights the music of David Sanborn, Eric Marienthal, and Grover Washington, Jr.
  • The Global Jazz Collective on Friday, March 3, 2023 (7:30 p.m.). The electrifying group showcases funk and bebop music in a high energy multicultural music setting. The group is led by University of Florida Director of Jazz Studies Scott Wilson along with Latin Grammy Award winner and UF Head of Music Business and Entrepreneurship, Jose Valentino.
  • Michelle Mailhot on Friday, April 7, 2023 (7:30 p.m.). Mailhot is a Walt Disney World jazz singer who is equally active as a performer and educator. Throughout her career, she has shared the stage with Liza Minnelli, Mel Tormé, Max Roach, Dick Williams, Sandy Patti, and Thomas Dolby, to name a few.
  • Lisa Kelly and JB Scott on Friday, May 12, 2023 (7:30 p.m.). JB is a world-class trumpet player and instructor at the University of North Florida, and Kelly is a DownBeat-winning singer. They will wrap up the season with an entertaining showcase.
